New game, same old story: why "Intuition" with Cyril Féraud struggles to convince us

This Saturday evening, France 2 is launching "Intuition, Who Will Be Closest?", a new game show in which contestants must get as close as possible to the correct answer to win up to €50,000. Despite some new features, the concept largely follows the same codes as "100% Logic."
By Marianne ChenouWe could almost call this game "100% Intuition" to assume the consanguinity with "100% Logic" . France 2 launches this Saturday evening at 9 p.m. its new game presented by Cyril Féraud , "Intuition, who will be the closest?". The principle: a question and a numerical answer to be found by the candidates. It's up to them to get as close as possible to the right solution, according to their famous... "intuition".
The first round, with 150 participants, is a great warm-up: two limits (high and low) are given to them so they can aim roughly right. If they hit the right answer, they have "the best intuition," and the further they stray from it, the less chance they have of qualifying for the second round, which only has 50 places. Before the grand finale between the 8 best players of the evening, to win 50,000 euros.
Those who enjoy spending their Saturday night watching Cyril Féraud's entertainment will easily find what they're looking for: a no-nonsense question and answer game where you can learn how many people live year-round on Mont Saint-Michel, the percentage of French people who wash their hands after going to the toilet, and the average number of arguments a couple has each year. The 40-year-old host is still as engaging, cheerful, and close to the contestants; the atmosphere is childish and good-natured.
However, from a strictly format point of view, we quickly find ourselves in an organization and a flow similar to that of "100% Logic" . Of course, the mechanics are different, but it does not generate an impression of renewal, rather of déjà vu. In the final, we even flinch at the questions chosen at random on the basis of a "clue" photo, as in "Le grand concours" on TF1.
Where "The Floor, à la conquête du sol" is based on a format of direct confrontations between competitors on specific themes, "Intuition" serves us a rehash of "100% Logique": a wall of candidates, eliminations as they go, asides between the host and the players for the evening, sprinkled with unusual anecdotes, a group of celebrities invited to participate (Isabelle Vitari, Willy Rovelli, Cendrine Dominguez and Yoann Riou, in this case) and a win at stake.
Only shades of blue and purple have replaced the typical gold of the other format presented by Cyril Féraud. The faithful will love it, the curious may get caught up in the game, but France 2 is simply offering a new version of a proven Saturday night hit.
